Policy Interpretation | 60 million bet on humanoid robots! How can Wuhan battery companies take advantage of favorable policies?

Release time:2025-06-25

Wuhan's "Three-Year Action Plan for Innovation and Development of the Humanoid Robot Industry," released on June 13th, clearly states that subsidies of up to 60 million yuan will be provided to whole-machine R&D companies, and component purchases will receive a 30% reward based on the actual amount. The policy does not explicitly mention "batteries," but humanoid robot batteries, as core components, fully meet the policy's applicable conditions for "components" and "product providers." Relevant companies can obtain financial support by applying for three types of projects: "procurement subsidies," "leading the charge," and "scenario rewards."

In Wuhan's humanoid robot industry policy, battery companies can indirectly benefit through three clauses.

01. Component Procurement Subsidies: Battery companies supply goods to Wuhan humanoid robot manufacturers (signing annual contracts, specifying that the batteries are for robot applications), providing supply invoices and relevant test reports. Both parties can enjoy a maximum annual procurement subsidy of 5 million yuan.

02. Leading the Charge: Pay close attention to the dynamics of humanoid robot component needs released by relevant Wuhan companies and institutions, and conduct joint research with universities/institutes. After passing the whole-machine test, successful applicants will receive a maximum subsidy of 1 million yuan for battery companies.

03. Scenario Demonstration Rewards: Develop humanoid robot-specific batteries, pass testing by at least one Wuhan robot company, provide detailed R&D expenses, scenario cooperation agreements, third-party testing reports, and other application materials, and receive a maximum reward of 1 million yuan, based on 20% of R&D investment.

Advantages of solid-state battery R&D and application in the humanoid robot field

Traditional liquid lithium batteries face three major pain points in humanoid robot applications:

The thermal management system accounts for more than 20% of the volume, squeezing the space for battery cells.

Performance degradation exceeds 30% in low-temperature environments, affecting range stability.

Under movement and vibration, the risk of electrolyte leakage is high.

Disruptive advantages of solid-state batteries:

Energy density leap:

The energy density of sulfide all-solid-state batteries reaches over 500Wh/kg, a 40% increase over liquid batteries, supporting more than 6 hours of robot operation (e.g., GAC GoMate's energy consumption decreased by 80% after adopting solid-state batteries).

BETTERY, through molecular in-situ coating technology, has reduced the volume of battery cells by 30%, adapting to the small space of robot joints.

Safety performance breakthrough:

The solid-state electrolyte is non-flammable and non-volatile, passing extreme tests such as needle puncture and compression.

HAOPENG Technology's semi-solid-state battery is equipped with an AI BMS system, which monitors the health status in real time and reduces the risk of failure.

Enhanced environmental adaptability:

BETTERY's composite solid-state electrolyte reduces internal resistance by 10% at -10℃, solving the problem of a sharp drop in winter range for outdoor robots.

Fast charging and long lifespan:

HAOPENG Technology's battery supports charging to 80% in 6 minutes, meeting the high-frequency energy replenishment needs of robots.

FENGNENG Technology's semi-solid-state battery has a cycle life of over 10,000 times, significantly reducing maintenance costs.

In addition, according to the news from Del's investor relations activities record in June, it mentioned that the company's pilot and industrialization projects for solid-state batteries have selected a base, and will subsequently accelerate the selection of pilot line equipment and the construction of the pilot line, and after the pilot line is running smoothly, it will gradually begin to plan and implement the construction of mass production lines according to customer and product development progress and market demand, serving various customers and industry needs, and its products can be applied to the field of humanoid robots.

The company's solid-state batteries, with their high-temperature resistance characteristics, can simplify the thermal management system (saving more than 20% space), and the released space is used to accommodate more battery cells—highly adaptable to the "space-constrained, range-demand" scenario of humanoid robots (robots have limited battery pack space, and battery cell capacity directly determines range).

With the accelerated landing of robots such as Tesla Optimus and Boston Dynamics Atlas, the global market size of humanoid robot batteries is expected to reach 5.8 billion yuan in 2026, with a compound annual growth rate exceeding 120%.

Wuhan's policy, through a combination of "subsidies + scenarios + computing power," is promoting the upgrading of solid-state battery companies from single technology R&D to "battery + BMS + thermal management" system solutions.

Relevant battery R&D technology companies can focus on interface stability technology for sulfide/oxide electrolytes, ultra-thin solid-state electrolyte coating technology, and battery health management algorithms based on robot motion data, to seize the commanding heights of the next generation of power systems.
